My film that i am creating is a horror film named 'Lucifer'. This film is about a young group of people who hear and old legend about a man named Lucifer who became possessed by the devil and decide it will be fun to go and record there night in Lucifer's house. Unfortunately they didn't believe the legend and slowly Lucifer kills them one by one.
I came up with the name Lucifer as that name is another name for the devil but also sounds like an everyday name almost creating a secret meaning behind the film and making it feel more realistic.
Throughout the film there will be major elements of darkness thus making my film a 15. There will be a lot of element s of violence but no sexual assault or any torturing thus making it an potentially enjoyable film for the audience type.

Research into potential target audience - Actors/Actresses in Horror films
Ethan Hawke: Born on November 6, 1970 in Austin, Texas. Ethan Hawke has played key roles in Horror films such as Sinister and the Purge which have been rated as some of the best horror films of this generation. My target audience will be mostly fans of Ethan Hawkes work as he is a truly a great actor.
Rose Byrne: was born in Balmain, Sydney, Australia. She landed her first role in the movie Dallas Doll (1994) when she was 15 years old. She has more recently played in horror films such as Insidious and 28 weeks later. These are exceptionally good films which attract a wide audience and her technical ability at expressing emotion will be sure to attract many viewers to the big screen. My target audience will mostly fans of her work. Furthermore she has recently played in other films such as bad neighbors which shows how diverse she is at acting.

Drafting and Planning - Film production companies
There are various production companies i can use that have had a substantial amount of success to distribute my film.
20th century fox: 20th Century Fox’s story begins in a tiny theater on New York’s Lower East Side. In 1904, fresh from Hungary, 25-year-old William Fox amazed audiences with his magical hand-cranked films. Some films distributed by 20th century fox are Noah Star wars and Brave-heart.

Warner Bros: WARNER BROS. ENTERTAINMENT INC. is a fully integrated, broad-based entertainment company and a global leader in the creation, production, distribution, licensing and marketing of all forms of entertainment and their related businesses.

Lionsgate: Lionsgate is an industry leader in the marketing and distribution of packaged media and digital entertainment. Lionsgates library features all Lionsgate and Summit Entertainment theatrical films, including THE HUNGER GAMES and THE TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN - PART 2

Drafting and Planning - Colour scheme for my title
I have decided on the Name and font of my Film trailer title. However i still need to decide which colour would be best suited. Here is a list of the film name in possible colours.
I feel the most effective colours out of these are the Black or red Lucifer sign which are quite effective. However, I will be using the Black sign as black is a symbol of death and darkness which is what my film is about and also Black can fit with most colour schemes.

Drafting and Planning - Font for title
To find a font for my title which is 'Lucifer' i will be using various resources on the internet. one of which is Dafont. The fonts listed here are my top 5. My favorite one which i feel will suit my film the most is labelled with a gold star as this is very simple but yet creates an scary chilling feeling with the blood pouring of the letters.

Research into similar products - Film trailer analysis - Exodus: Gods and kings
This is the analysis for the film trailer Exodus: Gods and Kings.
When the trailer starts, there is an establishing shot which shows ancient Egypt and this sets the scene for the film trailer, I feel that using an establishing shot at the start of my trailer would be very effective for my film and is something that i will use to set the scary scene. After this it slowly fades into a close up of the pharaoh staring into the distance. Whilst this is happening there is non Diegetic sound playing which adds a depressing feeling to the trailer making the viewers think that something bad is about to happen. I will add non diegetic sound into my film trailer as the slow chimes used in this trailer feel quite scary and intense which would be perfect for my trailer.
Next it slowly fades into a shot of Christian Bale fighting in Slow motion which suits the tone of the music and then goes into another establishing shot of a mass crowd of people moving. whilst this is happening the camera is slowly panning to the left which captures a wider crowd of people and alerts the audience into the shear movement that's happening.
After this, there are some close ups which show Moses and Ramses passing through the crowd. Over this there is Dialogue in the scene as someone is narrating the brothers situation and showing how the brothers care about each other. This slowly changes as Christian Bale realises that the slavery is the worst its ever been which is shown through Mise en scene as props such as: dead bodies, fires and swords are shown to represent the slaves rebellion. These props used are very effective in demonstrating the slaves rebellion, i will also be using effective props that symbolise fear.
Mise en scene is used again in the form of lighting as when the old man is telling Christian Bale the truth, half of him is shadowed which represents his past and when the old man reveals the truth, light starts to appear on the left side of his face and this shows how the truth is shining on him.
When the brothers slowly turn on each other, Mise on scene is shown through facial expressions. As christian bale blocks the Pharaohs sword he yells 'Yes' which shows the determination he expresses about slavery and how compassionate he is to change it.
When the Pharaoh states ' I want Moses dead' there is fast paced editing of Moses fighting for his life which goes to show the betrayal and conflict of the brothers. This fast paced editing again will be used in my film trailer as the pace of the trailer shows the action happening in the trailer. By using this i can show the struggle of the victims trying to escape the killer.

Research into similar products - Magazine front cover analysis - Tinker Tailor solder spy
Masthead: The mast head is central from the standard left hand side position and is not that assertive to the audience. This creates an effect that the magazine is dominated by Tinker tailor solder spy and the magazine little white lies want you to focus on this instead of claiming any attention.
Direct mode of address: There is a direct mode of address as it feels that the actor which is Gary Oldman is looking right at you. By having the chess piece there it feels that the viewer is playing against the actor but it creates a psychological effect making them feel as if they are the bad guy.
No Pugs or Puffs: There are no pugs or puffs distracting the attention of tinker tailor solder spy making the reader feel that the main attention is the film tinker tailor solder spy.
Image: The image feels as if it has been made into a cartoon but the actor still looks very serious. This creates an impression that the magazine and Film are definitely not a joke.
The colour scheme: The colour scheme is Analogous as the colours are all blue and complement each other. Blue has a colour connotation of depression and illness which could be insinuating that the story line will create these feeling to the characters.
Main coverline: The main coverline is not very large and appears to be hidden away by the chess piece. This is used so it doesn't take any of the attention away from the seriousness of the film which is a very clever technique.

Research into similar products - Film poster analysis - The Purge
Director: James Demonaco
Genre: Horror/Thriller
Lead roles: Ethan Hawke (James Sandin), Lina Headey (Mary Sandin), Max Burkeholder (Charlie Sandin) and Adelaide Kane (Zoey Sandin).
Plot: For 12 hours, all crime is legal and a wealthy family is held hostage for harboring the target of a murderous syndicate during the Purge.Genre: Horror/Thriller
Lead roles: Ethan Hawke (James Sandin), Lina Headey (Mary Sandin), Max Burkeholder (Charlie Sandin) and Adelaide Kane (Zoey Sandin).
Type of shot: The type of shot is an close up of the killer wearing a mask. This creates a sense of mystery as we don't know what to expect from this sinister looking person.
Lighting: One the left side of the mask there is elements of light shining through, this just shows that after day light the massacre will begin and when darkness falls which is shown on the right hand side of the mask, there will be destruction.
Use of colour: There is not much colour shown in this poster as it is trying to capture the horror of the purge. If colour was used, it would create less of a scary effect as it would give elements of brightness to the poster. By having this poster dark it creates a gloomy dark effect creating fear for the purge.
Main conventions of the poster:
- The Image is the assertive feature of the poster.
- The Film title is very effective yet simple
- There is a Clear tagline saying 'One night a year, all crime is legal' and 'Survive the night may 31st'. By having these it creates a mass panic and gets people thinking what would happen if something like this actually happened?
- The companies involved in creating the poster have been listed
- The directors other movies have been listed so people who enjoyed those films are more likely to come and visit this film as well.

Research into similar products - Media conventions - Editing
The are various types of editing techniques i can use throughout my film trailer to create an effect of suspense. These are editing techniques such as: Fast pace editing, Slow motion, Zooming, Cross cutting or even a Split edit:
Fast pace editing: Fast pace editing can be used to express the tempo of the scene and i can use it in chase scenes where the killer is chasing the victims. This will almost put the viewers i the victims situations creating a chilling effect.
Slow motion: I can use a slow motion effect in my trailer to add suspense to the scene and make the viewers feel calm before something shocking happens.
Zooming: I could use a zoom to show various parts in detail. This will be important because it can reveal parts of the image that people didn't see before potentially scaring the audience.
Cross cutting: Cross cutting is used to show what happens in 2 different places. I could use this to show the light sides of the victims being happy and then cut straight away to the killer which is the dark side creating a representation of good and evil.
Elliptical editing: Shot transitions that omit parts of an event, causing ellipsis and plot in the film duration.
Jump shot: Is basically an elliptical cut that appears to be an interruption of a single shot. It occurs within a scene rather than between scenes, to condense the shot.
