This is the analysis for the film trailer Exodus: Gods and Kings.

When the trailer starts, there is an establishing shot which shows ancient Egypt and this sets the scene for the film trailer, I feel that using an establishing shot at the start of my trailer would be very effective for my film and is something that i will use to set the scary scene. After this it slowly fades into a close up of the pharaoh staring into the distance. Whilst this is happening there is non Diegetic sound playing which adds a depressing feeling to the trailer making the viewers think that something bad is about to happen. I will add non diegetic sound into my film trailer as the slow chimes used in this trailer feel quite scary and intense which would be perfect for my trailer.

Next it slowly fades into a shot of Christian Bale fighting in Slow motion which suits the tone of the music and then goes into another establishing shot of a mass crowd of people moving. whilst this is happening the camera is slowly panning to the left which captures a wider crowd of people and alerts the audience into the shear movement that's happening.

After this, there are some close ups which show Moses and Ramses passing through the crowd. Over this there is Dialogue in the scene as someone is narrating the brothers situation and showing how the brothers care about each other. This slowly changes as Christian Bale realises that the slavery is the worst its ever been which is shown through Mise en scene as props such as: dead bodies, fires and swords are shown to represent the slaves rebellion. These props used are very effective in demonstrating the slaves rebellion, i will also be using effective props that symbolise fear.

Mise en scene is used again in the form of lighting as when the old man is telling Christian Bale the truth, half of him is shadowed which represents his past and when the old man reveals the truth, light starts to appear on the left side of his face and this shows how the truth is shining on him.
When the brothers slowly turn on each other, Mise on scene is shown through facial expressions. As christian bale blocks the Pharaohs sword he yells 'Yes' which shows the determination he expresses about slavery and how compassionate he is to change it.

When the Pharaoh states ' I want Moses dead' there is fast paced editing of Moses fighting for his life which goes to show the betrayal and conflict of the brothers. This fast paced editing again will be used in my film trailer as the pace of the trailer shows the action happening in the trailer. By using this i can show the struggle of the victims trying to escape the killer.
